I think it sounds like a cool idea, as long as they keep it alongside Encounters, so they have organized games for the beginners and the experts. I might try it.

Also, this is pretty good proof that Wizards is not going down the drain like so many people are saying, or at least they don't think they are.

It is a dungeon delve for optimised characters only bring every bonus you can find to the game or die.
This. Which, if I didn't absolutely deplore being insulted by some toad because I'm not a stone-cold optimizer, I'd completely be interested in this.

As it is, for the group that actually all lives within driving distance of the FLGS, I'm the biggest optimizer. And that's being generous. My brain hurts doing some of the math the hard-core optimizers do, and even I look at some of my friend's characters and scratch my head wondering why they made the choices they made.

If I showed up at one of these game nights, I think I'd get laughed right out of the store. =/

This is, if it is anything other than a nice idea, a sign that we will be getting an Expert level addition to the system to sit alongside Essentials Basic level.

I don't think this is necessarily the case. With the level of optimization you can do with the current system, I don't think even more options are needed. This seems like a definite attempt to promote fortune cards. Give people a play experience where the fortune cards are really crucial to being powerful enough to compete, then you'll start getting people hooked on'em (at least that's the plan).

Hmm I'd be intrigued to see what WotC deems as very difficult or super-challenging adventure, mostly so I can steal them for my own game
