Okay, this is the first product of my (finally working) Starwars Access Database Critters Form...working wonders and I finally figured out how to make a report so the damn things will print! Oh I'm so happy!!! Teaching yourself Access is a real chore... Siune Queen Huge Forest Predator 4 HD: 4d8+32; VP/WP 50/52 Str 32 Dex 8 Con 26 Int 3 Wis 12 Cha 13 Fort +12 Ref +0 Will +5 Speed 8m, 8m climb, 10m fly (clumsy) Initiative -1 (-1 Dex) Defense 18 (-2 size, -1dex, +11 natural); DR 7 Skills: Climb +20, Jump +16, Listen +3, Spot +3, Survival +6 Feats: Track, Power Attack SQ: Low-light Vision, Poison, Webbing, Improved Grab, Swallow Whole, Sulfur Tolerant Attacks: +15 melee (2d6+16+poison, bite) Description: <Transcript of a conversation between Baron Fot’Anon and the survivor of a doomed mapping expedition>: Baron: Tell me one more time how five members of your group were killed. Survivor: Please sir! It wasn’t my fau… <sounds of static and screams for mercy> Baron: Continue. Please. Survivor: We-we-well sir, like I stated earlier, we had set up camp for the night when the spiders struck. There were eight of them at least. The biggest group of them I’ve ever heard of, and they were led by this huge creature: a mammoth spider-like creature with three sets of wings at least five meters long and a gaping mouth that it used to swallow…to…to swallow… <more sounds of static and screams> Baron: It swallowed both Ezk’Na and Veer’To over the course of the battle. Correct? Survivor: Ye-ye-yes Barron. Baron: And that was when you fled the battle in the speeder? Survivor: Y-ye-yes-s sir. <more sounds of static and screaming> <more sounds of static and screaming> <more sounds of static and screaming> <more sounds of static and screaming> <End of transcription…> When a Siune Spider reaches just past his peak age, glands in his body start producing hormones that cause a very sudden, very drastic change that, akin to a butterfly, the spider must enter a cocoon to survive. Protected by the rest of the pack, what emerges is a living nightmare; a horror to behold fully five meters long with three pairs of wings and huge venemous jaws used to swollow prey whole. Fortunately, the lifespan of a female Siune Spider is very short. Within a week -- or shorter if she manages to quickly fill her belly -- a Siune Queen will spin herself into another cocoon, and die. Shortly after her dijestive juces finish their work liquifying whatever is insided her large stomach, the hundreds of eggs maturing along the ridge of her back hatch and the young Siune Hatchlings begin to burrow into their mother's now inactive stomach to consume the already liquified nutrients she has provided for them. Only the strongest handful of hatchlings will survive the hatching process and be able to pierce her carapace to get to her stomach, but those that do will insure a powerful new generation of Siune Spiders on a primal and brutal planet. Combat: The vicous Siune Queen's only goal in any combat is to fill her stomach at any cost to her or her pack. She will utalise any primitive tactic necessary to get the drop on potential meals, and as soon as her stomach is filled she will leave with all haste to spin her cocoon so that her eggs can hatch. Special Qualities: Poison: If a target takes damage from a Siune Queen's bite attack, they must make a fort save (DC 22) or take 1d6 dexterity damage. After one minute they must pass another fort save or be paralyzed for 1d6 minutes. Webbing: Siune Queens are excellent web spinners able to spin some 100 meters of webbing every ten minutes. The webbing they spin is extremely strong and it loses all adhesiveness after it has had a chance to dry for a minute or so. Siune Queens like to spin webs to block escape routes and set extremely primitive traps such as covered pits and net-drops. Improved Grab: With jaws built to swollow opponents whole, anyone hit with a Siune Queen's bite attack is subject to an automatic grapple attempt as a free action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity. Swallow Whole: If a Siune Queen succeeds in grappling with an opponent, it can, after succeeding at another grapple check, swallow the grappeled opponent. Swallowed opponents take 2d6+16 crushing damage as they are swallowed, and 3d6 points of acid damage each round they spend in the queen's stomach. A Siune Queen's stomach can hold one large, two medium, four small, or eight tiny creatures at a time. Sulfur Tolerant: The Siune Spider has evolved on a planet frequently swept by "Sulfur Storms” deadly to creatures that cannot breath sulfur for varying lengths of time. A Siune Spider can breathe in a sulfur atmosphere for a number of hours equal to three times its constitution score. I don't have a challenge rating unfortunately...I think this could very well be, by itself, an average challenge for a group of level 8-9 characters due to it's tendency to grab and flee. Only problem is that these things appear with Siune Spiders so the encounter rating will always be higher by default simply due to numbers. Whadda ya think? Arandmoor Keet
