New DVD player prompts new sig

Our house just upgraded to the DVD world. The purchase of which was an adventure worthy of a Story Hour of its own. We add a new remote to the family, which my padawan son presented to me with much solemnity, prompting Mrs. Imhotepthewise to remark "How many frikkin remotes do we have now anyway?". Life is Good.

Let's see...
One DVD
One TV
Two VCRs
One Stereo
One MP3 player (although it's attached by a cable, don't know if it counts)

Six remotes. Ahhhhhhrrrrrrr (drooling).

Lets see...

DVD Remote
Three VCR remotes (Yes, with three VCRs... don't ask)
TV remote
Remote for the stereo system
Wireless Mouse
Wireless Keyboard
Remote Control for my air conditioner
Palm Pilot IR port letting my palm pilot act as an MP3/.avi remote for my computer

Of course, at any one time, I can find maybe 1 or 2 of these remotes, and never the ones I want... And I don't use the keyboard/mouse all the time, just when I'm goofing off and dont wanna sit hunched at my desk...

A universal remote would make sense, but the way I look at it, considering how often I loose the amount of remotes I have, a universal remote would just be a bigger hurt... all I have to do is loose ONE remote and I'm in far more trouble... unless I got three or four of them, in which case I havn't solved much...

Get a universal remote. It will make life so much easier. Or at least when you lose the universal one you can use the individual ones as backups.

Lets see, on for my DirectTV, one for my VCR, on for my stereo, one for ATI all in wonder, and that's just this room.

We have a remote for the cable box in the den, and a remote for the cable box in the bedroom. But each remote will work on either box. My wife and I sometimes each get a remote, get in the same room and have duels to see which TV show we watch.
