New EPIC Feat: Adaptability

Vlos

First Post
Humans are naturally adaptive in that they choose which ever is their highest class as their favored class. There are also Feats which allow races to add a "Casting class" as a Favored class as well, though I have not seen any for fighter or other classes.

So if a Non-Epic Feat can add a second class as a Favored class it would seem logical a EPIC feat could do the same with a little more flexibility.

EPIC Feat: Adaptability
Prerequisites: EPIC Character
Benefit: The character can choose an additional favored class. The chosen class doesn't count against him or her when determining experience point penalties for multiclassing.

Special: A character may take this more than once, each time chosing a new additional favored class.

It seems rather badly underpowered for an epic feat (although maybe that's just me?). I would have no problem with it allowing you to ignore XP penalties for multiclassing altogether.

Yes, I would say its under powered too compared to most, but too powerful for a normal feat unless it has some prerequisites.

Unearthed Arcana has it own take on this, but it is not epic.

Additional Favored Class [General]
You are more adept at combining different talents than most members of your race.
Benefit:Choose a character class, such as ranger. The chosen class is treated as a favored class for the purpose of determining whether your character takes an experience point penalty for multiclassing.
Normal: Without this feat, if any class other than your race's favored class is 2 or more lower than your highest-level, you take a -20% penalty to XP earned for each class that is not within one level of your highest-level class.
Special: You can gain this feat multiple times. Each time you take the feat it applies to a new class.

Agreed.
I dropped the favored class rules and multiclass xp penalty. IME, multiclassing is more often a RP choice than a powergaming one.

If only that were so in my game. One of my players is a Barbarian/Cleric/Fighter/Monk.
