New (?) Feat: Greater Spell

Many spells have level caps - Dispel Magic, Cure Light Wounds, and Fireball to name but three. What if you could increase spells? Well, there's Greater Dispel Magic at L6. So why not let other spells enjoy the same benefit?

Greater Spell
Prerequisite: Heighten spell.
Benefit: The maximum caster level cap on the affected spell is raised by 10. (I need to phrase this better) A Greater spell uses a slot 3 levels higher.
Special: Greater Spell cannot stack with itself.

What do you think? Is a 20d6 fireball from a 20th level wizard reasonable?

It seems quite reasonable -- a 6th-level spell would have a better save and cost two feats less, but this has many aplications. At first it's worse than Maximize Spell, but it becomes better as your caster level gets high.

Here's the Enhance Spell feat from the epic SRD:

"The damage cap for your spells increases by 10 dice (for spells that deal a number of dice of damage equal to caster level) or by 5 dice (for spells that deal a number of dice of damage equal to half caster level). An enhanced spell uses up a spell slot four levels higher than the spell’s actual level. This feat has no effect on spells that don’t specifically deal a number of dice of damage equal to the caster’s level or half level, even if the spell’s effect is largely dictated by the caster’s level."

Your idea is close to this one, but this one requires that you be at least 21st level.

Hah! I knew it was too simple to not have been done before. The feat I suggest is actually more powerful than the Epic feat as it applies to all level related stuff. I do prefer the Epic feat's differentiation between half caster level and full caster level.

But are these feats actually worthy of being Epic?

Considering stuff like Orb of Force around... nay, no epic (they still got saves, and SR applies)

Of course... aplying it to Orb of Force it'd get ugly....

I HATE that spell...

Also note the epic stuff has been overtaken by a lot of the current feats now available to non-epic characters. Improved Combat Expertise for example.

Four levels sounds reasonable for the feat - Twin Spell is 4 levels, and it's about the same effect as that.
