Forested regions, mountain ranges, grasslands, hills and deserts surround a large swamp, and in the north an arctic region offers only few incentives to settle. There is one active volcano north east to the swamp which erupts approximately once a month with smoke and sometimes lava. The damage is usually limited to the immediate surroundings. Local legends say New Light, by the locals called Ancient Home, was created for the original inhabitants specifically. The large swamp in the approximate middle where the dendarr, the long gone ingenious lizards, once lived is often cited as proof of this theory. Even in the warmer regions, there is winter, and no tropical zone exists. Even the deserts tend to be on the colder side. Weather is moderate unless what the locals call the Moongoddess' Ire happens - a corona of differently colored light around the moon or the sun which usually leads to unpredictable weather, from droughts to hurricanes to snow storms in the middle of summer. For all their Harmony with nature, the original inhabitants have build a small canal through upper half of the continent to connect the east coast with the Spear Lake. The knowledge as to how this was done is said to reside with the industrious Nezumi. For most of the landmarks and places, the new settlers have created their own, sometimes mocking names. This is not very well received by either the lizardfolk or the mrrengar. The other original races don't care either way. Not all landmarks have names yet, as there have been relatively few exploration efforts until recently.</blockquote>
