New news page and cookies

I've created a userid for the new news page (still icky syntax), logged in and checked the "remember me" box. However, I'm still regularly getting the welcoming message

If you're going to come here often, you'll find that this page can be configured quite a bit by registering. You can choose how many news items appear on the page, ...

Is this a cookie problem, like what's happening with the messageboards for some people?

Not had this problem when first coming to the boards in the day, but have had the boards forget who I am while looking around. It is odd, but my computer does odd things and it may just be me.

I've had it do that once, but it seems to know who I am now.
