[QUOTE="CrazyDrake, post: 2150132, member: 18301"] well, i don't know alot about ravenloft, other than there's lots of undead and the world is doomed or some such, but I do have some general advice. 1) Rogue is a class in D&D. it used to be called thief. Rouge is a kind of make up that people wear sometimes. Apparently, many people who like rogues also dislike having the class compared to a kind of make up, and will thus call you names and/or make fun of you. i suggest that you not mispelled it in the future. 2) speaking of spelling: take your time, sound the words out, and read through the post again. before posting it. you will get more responses, as well as better quality ones, if you take the time to make sure your post is clear and easy to understand. use a spell checker in a text program (like microsoft word) to help you spell words you're not sure about if you have to. i do. it's not that people on these boards are picky, or elitist (used spellchecker), or anything like that (though some are), it's just that people have short attention spans, and prefer to read things that they easily understand, rather than translatin them. also, many people on the boards are not native english speakers, and thus have a lot of trouble witn 'typing-slang', or spelling a word incorrectly but alot like what it sounds like. 'Persuasion' sounds alot like 'Persusan' but makes absolutly no sense to non-native speakers. 3) you don't have to be perfect. missing a 'g' at the end of 'ing' or an 'e' right before an 'ly' or forgeting to capitalize the first letter of every sentance and your 'i's is alright, as it's still easy to understand. very bad spelling is not ok, and bad punctuation (spell checker) is usually a death sentence. anyway, about your sorcerer. in general, transmutation, illusion, telportation, and necromancy are the best schools for arcane users to focus on. a general note about arcane spells: the most effective 'attack' spells are usually odd in level. the most effective 'defense' and utility spells are usually even in number. in other words, you're going to burn through your odd spells first, so be ready. good low end spells: 1- magic missile. all you really need for attack spells here. also tenser's disk, enlarge person (for the fighter), shield, and one other spell that you like (usually charm person, but for an undead-heavy setting maybe chill touch. not sure though) 2- invisibility, web, alter self, and two other spells (rope trick, scorching ray, command undead, etc). nice selection of useful utility spells. you might want to pick up one or more ability enhancers at low levels, unless the cleric keeps lots of those prepared. 3- dispel magic, haste, magic circle against evil, either fierball or lightning bolt, and whever else you think you need. of course, the above is just one nice list of spells. other people could give you other lists, and they might be just as nice as mine. don't be afraid to burn higher-level slots if you have to in order to cast what you need. make friends with the cleric, but don't stand too close to him. a good 20 feet is the minimum safe distance. clerics are great against undead, and undead know that.
