[QUOTE="daTim, post: 795000, member: 1797"] Fingers of Fire Evocation [Fire] Level: Sor/Wiz 5 Components: V, S, F Casting Time: 1 action Range: Long (400 ft. + 40 ft./level) Target: Up to 5 creatures, no two of whom can be more than 30 ft. apart Duration: Instantaneous Saving Throw: Reflex half Spell Resistance: Yes When cast the characters fingers glow with a red hot fire that is then focused into a disk with 6 gems set inside it. The character can either create 5 seperate rays of fire using the outer gems, or a single ray of fire using the larger center gem. 5 Seperate rays: The rays of fire shoot out from the gems in the disk at up to 5 seperate targest, each of can be no more than 30 feet apart. The rays do 1d6 fire damage per 4 caster levels, and each requires a seperate ranged touch attack. 1 Single ray: The rays focus into the large center gem and are then shot out as a single more powerful ray of fire. The ray does 1d6 fire damage per caster levels. Only one ranged touch attack roll is required, and only one reflex save is allowed. Material Focus: A 6 inch diameter disk with a handle, looking somewhat like a hand mirror sporting 5 - 1/2" rubies set equidistantly around the diamater, and a single 1" ruby in the center. All together the Material Focus costs 500g. I created this spell mostly because I thought it would look cool if someone could do it in real life. From there I (attempted) to balance it with other spells. 5th lvl seems pretty well placed to me, since it isnt as good as chain lightning, but better than any lower lvl damaging spells, and scales into the higher levels. If a person were confident that someone would fail the reflex save, they could do the center ray and go for the most damage, but if they think the target might pass, they could shoot all 5 rays seperatly and hope that they fail a few. I also considered having an optional, even more expensive version of the Material Focus granting a +1 or 2 to the attack roll. Perhaps 1000g +? Or just not at all. Suggestions and critiques as far as power, creativity, and name suggestions are quite welcome (I dont really like the name but couldnt think of a better one) Edit: Fixed damage on single ray option so that it does 1d6 per caster level.
