New spell - Jerlin’s Onomastikon My campaign is a bit different in that I require planar binding spells to summon a specific unique creature, rather than a generic one. What this means is that you can summon Giragat'utha the Bar-Luga demon, but you can't just summon a Bar-Luga. Now obviously wizards would have created a spell in order to get knowledge of these names. I've created a spell to do that, but I'm not sure about it exactly, and so I need to get soem feedback. FYI, Jerlin is the name of a powerful and grotesquely evil conjurer in my campaign. Jerlin’s Onomastikon Divination Level: Sor/Wiz 5 Components: V Casting Time: 10 minutes Range: Personal Target: You Duration: One round You send your mind to another plane of existence (an Elemental Plane or some plane farther removed) in order to receive information about the name of an outsider or elemental creature from powers there. (See the accompanying table for possible consequences and results of the attempt.) The powers reply with a single name. You can specify the type of creature you want named within certain boundaries. You can request a specific type such as efreet or succubus, but this will add 5% to the success roll. There is also no guarantee that you will not get the name of an advanced example of the class you are requesting, such as a Bar-luga fighter or an Avoral sorcerer. This would add 10% to the DM’s success roll. Contact with minds far removed from your home plane increases the probability that you will incur a decrease to Intelligence and Charisma, but the chance of the power knowing the answer, as well as the probability of the entity answering correctly, are likewise increased by moving to distant planes. Once the Outer Planes are reached, the power of the deity contacted determines the effects. (Random results obtained from the table are subject to the personalities of individual deities.) Obviously if the DM rolls a lie, and gives the name of an outsider or elemental of more HD than the planar binding spell that is used can call, then the spell fails. On rare occasions, this divination may be blocked by an act of certain deities or forces.
