[QUOTE="Tovec, post: 5990339, member: 95493"] Okay the first part, 2 spells whenever she levels, is the same as it was in 3.5. "Adds [cut] spells [cut] to her familiar" is exactly the same language as the wizard "Adds [cut] spells [cut] to his spellbook". How that works is when she levels she "learns", for lack of a better word, 2 new spells. They must be of her highest capable spell level or lower. So, a 13th level witch who is now capable of casting 7th level spells adds 2 spells of 7th (spell level) or lower to her familiar. It isn't clear exactly how she adds them anymore than it is described how a wizard adds spells to his spell book. I would assume, based on the flavour text of how she prepares and casts certain spells, that she must spend some time communing with her familiar in order for the familiar to learn the spells but I don't see anything explicit. As far as the "ritual". The only references I can find to that are when discussing new spells added to the familiar and when the familiar is needed to be replaced. I'm guessing (an educated guess) that the special ritual to learn additional spells is talking about the familiar's capacity to learn spells from another familiar - which I quoted above but which I'll paraphrase and specify here. Familiar to familiar: The witch's familiar can learn spells from another witch's familiar. I'll call witch 1's familiar fox and witch 2's familiar toad. So fox spends 7 hours with toad to learn a single 7th level spell. After finishing these 7 hours together fox must make a DC 22 (15+spell level) check. If fail then fox doesn't actually learn anything, if success then fox does. And the next time witch 1 goes to prepare spells she can use that new 7th level spell. Familiar from scroll: Similar to above, except at the end the scroll is burned up and "comsumed" by the fox. My guess is that these are the only references to ritual learning that the entry meant to specify as they are the only ways I can find. That part you quoted only talks about special methods and regular methods of learning. Both of which I have now specified. Both of which are very familiar with 3.5's method of scribing scrolls into a spellbook and learning them through the course of leveling. [/QUOTE]
