I don't know anything about Pelgrane Press, but I love the works of Ken Hite.

Pelgrane Press is the company that was created to produce the Dying Earth RPG by Robin Laws (and every long term D&D player should at least be familiar with the Dying Earth). It's owned by ProFantasy, the company produces Campaign Cartographer.

Esoterrorists is their recent RPG release, also by Robin Laws. This CoC version seems to be based on the rules set used in that game (the GUMSHOE system).

Being a fan of both Call of Cthulhu AND Ken Hite, what's not to like about this news? Robin Laws work has been great in the past, so I hear, so this can only be beneficial.

So is this a new edition replacing the BRP system?

It's a new edition like the d20 CoC was a new edition. Same "game," different system, licensed to a different company.

My first thought was: "What's the point of another CoC version?"

My second thought was: "It is going to be written by Ken Hite. So of course I am going to buy it."
