D&D 5E New Wandering Monsters: Demonic Cults

Dausuul

Legend
Here.

I think this is some really cool stuff. It gives me a sense of the demon princes as more than just really big demons, and suggests some excellent ideas for NPC villain groups. I'd love to see more like this.

Edit: After some more thought, I agree with the consensus on the WotC thread: The Demogorgon and Baphomet cults are excellent, the Graz'zt one has potential but needs some work. In particular, I'd like to know what differentiates Graz'ztian cults from the worship of any deity of fertility and/or physical pleasures. The pursuit of sensual pleasure is not in itself evil, and the Graz'zt cult sounds more hedonistic than malevolent. Let's see some more about that nihilism and its consequences.

The Demogorgon one has potential, they blew it with Baphomet (and no mention of his enmity with Yeenoghu annoyed me), and that Mr Hyde crapola; and the Graz'zt one was just blah.

Most underwhelming WM yet.

It is about the demon prince's cults, not the demon princes themselves. Why did it have to mention Yeenoghu?

Baphomet's war with Yeenoghu has been contained in the Abyss. Yeenoghu's cults were always gnolls living in savannas and Baphomet's cults were minotaurs in underground mazes. They never interacted in any way.

So I go back to my original "Why did it have to mention Yeenoghu?"

I never said it had to (go back and read), I said no mention "annoyed me", are you just cruising for an argument (trying to pasively-bully me)?

And I disagree with your above statements about their cults.

I can tell of one instance of non-gnoll followers of Yeenoghu, the Maures family. That cult did not involve Baphomet at all. I cannot tell you any cult of Baphomet that is not minotaur, ogre or giant.

And I am not trying to passively bully you. This was an attempt to fit the Baphomet cult in a short paragraph. I find someone being annoyed by not including continuity nods a problematic but that is a personal issue and I like to analyze why people need those nods. If you don't want to indulge me feel free:)
