Vindelae Hooked Longsword: This is the standard weapon of the Vindelae island's swordsmen militia. It is about the size of a typical longsword, it has a basket type hilt to protect the wielder when engaged in melee. The blade has a sharp cutting edge on both sides just like the standard longsword; however, the end is not pointed but instead slightly rounded, curving into a wicked hook on the top edge of the blade. It can be used to disarm an opponent on a successful attack attempt and the wielder receives a +2 to the opposed roll to do so (including the roll to avoid being disarmed if one fails to disarm one’s opponent). It costs 15gp to manufacture and is currently not for sale, it is supplied only to the island’s militia for free. However, if sold in the future it will cost 25gp. The weapon weighs 6 pounds and is a medium sized martial weapon that does 1d8 hit points of damage on a successful attack. The weapon can be used to rend an opponent for an additional 1d4+1 hit points of damage when used in conjunction with the Vindelae Bladed Shield (see below) and the wielder hits with both weapons in the same round. Vindelae Bladed Shield: This shield is part of the standard issue of the weapon of the Vindelae island's swordsmen militia. It is for all intensive purposes a normal small steel shield (a wooden version can be made for about 1/3 the price); however, along the bottom edge is two short blades for piercing. It is intended to be used in conjunction with the Vindelae Hooked Longsword two-weapon fighting style. The wielder suffers all penalties associated with two-weapon fighting and for the purposes of such penalties this shield is a light weapon. It costs 10gp to manufacture and is currently not for sale, it is supplied only to the island’s militia for free. However, if sold in the future it will cost 25gp. The shield weighs 6 pounds and is a small sized shield (+1 to AC, -1 to Armor Check Penalty, and 5% Arcane Spell Failure) that can be used as a martial weapon that does 1d4 hit points of damage on a successful attack. The weapon can be used to enable the wielder to rend an opponent with a Vindelae Hooked Longsword for an additional 1d4+1 hit points of damage. When used as a weapon on a particular round it does not grant any benefits of a having a shield
