Ok, at gamingreport.com we get this news:

http://www.gamingreport.com/article.php?sid=7667&mode=thread&order=0

"New Official 3.5 Releases: Draconomicon and Complete Warrior:
We uncovered news on two new Wizards of the Coast Dungeons and Dragons sourcebooks coming in November of 2003. Nothing was said about these yet but we scarfed up the info on the way out tonight. The Dragon book looks pretty awesome."

The Draconomicon is being discussed in another thread <http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44483> but here's what little they have to say about the Complete Warrior:

"Complete Warrior
Nothing just yet. More updates to follow. Word on the street is this is going to be a big old Quint type book like no one has seen before.
Release: November "

Now, this is a strange idea to me. They do Sword & First and the other splats, then go and do another range of class based books? WTF?

D&D as a game hasn't limited itself to one book per topic due to the d20 lisence, so why should wotC? There already are a gazillion fighter books (if this is such), so whats one more going to hurt?

If wotcers have had new ideas regarding warriors I'm more than happy to see them.

My initial reaction was one of, Why? But now that I think about it there are plenty of books for magic, so why not a little extra for the more combative types. I mean they've stuck a spell section in just about every product they've released, plus tome and blood, and Magic of Faerun. I'm curious what they'd have to add to the subject.

Wot€ is just milking money since they know a lot of people will buy anything with the WotC logo.

Or they are just trying to stay in business by providing new material for their customer base, after all, the nature of the business is you buy one copy and are good for several years. If they stop making new material they stop making money. I am not an accountant, but I think it is important for companies to make money.

I personally am not interested in such a book, but that is what I thought about the Arms & Equipment guides until I read Eric's synopsis and several other reviews. I now hope to pick it up.

Maybe it will have the "best of" the d20 fighter books, along with some new stuff.

I'd possibly buy that.

or maybe the R&D department decided they wanted to do this book? I mean sure, people will buy most stuff with the WotC logo on it. But that doesn't explain this book does it? If you were right, then they'd just reprint a bunch of old drawings of fairies that the CEO's daugter did right? cos that would sell real good?

Why do people seem to refuse to believe that most of the WotC designers like playing D&D?

Heaven forfend WOTC should try to stay in business by (gasp) publishing new books and (horrors) making money doing so.

Because we haven't heard *anything* about this book other than a possible title and an unsubstantiated rumor regarding its contents, we can't even be certain it'll be a "character class" book (the title's resemblance to the 2E "brown" books notwithstanding). It's always possible it'll be a book of superlative substance and erudite illumination on the much broader topic of D&D combat. :) And, as always, even after we *do* know what's in it, it'll continue to be possible for anyone who doesn't want a copy to not purchase one once it's published. ;)

I expect the sanest response is, as it is to most (all?) of the "advanced peeks" we get around here, a "wait and see" attitude. Glad to see I'm not alone in this.

I'd be amazed if WotC did that... look to Mongoose I reckon.
