Well the title says it all but i guess i could be more detailed.

I am thinking of making a few products as a freelancer. How should I go about doing this?

The products might be something like the Picks N Mix at the ENGS but I will also have some GM tips with fantasy writing good for rumors, legends, etc.

You should work on your own stuff and release it for free, take feedback with maturity, build a body of samples and then attempt to interest a legitimate company with a decent business plan in your work. Then, follow your contracts; do not work without them. You should not waste buyers' time and money as well as yours getting "practice" as a vanity publisher.

Look arround at companies that are producing products similar to what you want to create. Then go to those companies websites and see what their submission guidelines are.

I have to agree with Eyebeams, when I first thought about it I started out doing Contests and such. I am glad I did because I learned a ton in a short few months, also learned how much I didn't care for it and went back to coding :)

Starting out offering your material for free allows you to learn without anyone feeling you have ripped them off while you gain skill and experience from the feedback. This will be critical when you decide it is time to go commercial. You will find much more interest as you will have already gained a following to both your style and your flavor.
