news ticker can't be killed in my user preferences :-(

Does anyone have any ideas why the news ticker still shows in my user prefs, even after I've saved my settings in User CP/Edit Options/Style Set to "No News Ticker"?

I normally use NS 4.8 to browse the web, and IE 5.5 to print (to avoid wasting ink on the black background), but in both I'm still seeing the news banner scrolling across the top of the screen.

What's up?

Hmm, I don't know. Your current setting is "no news ticker."

How/where do you access the internet? Are you going through a proxy? Have you cleared out your cache?

Eric---

Thanks for answering, I think maybe it took a few mintues for the update to hit the db and be reflected back to me: I'm OK now.

No really.

I am :D

speaking of news ticker

the darn thing seems to hang up my browser at times.
Now not knowing wether the problem was on my end or the boards I thought I would just turn it off in my usercp.....but guess what...I couldn't get to my usercp because the news ticker appears on that page by default, so the page would not completely load. I finally got through to turn the ticker off...but maybe the admins should think about disabling the darn thing in the usercp pages.

In most browsers you can disable Java. All you need to do is turn off Java browser-side long enough to get to the User CP page and select an alternate page layout.
