www.nexuswar.com Some of you may have heard of Urbandead. (www.urbandead.com) A browser based MMORPG where it's a perpetual battle between survivors and zombies in a zombie apocalypse. Nexus War draws its inspiration from Urbandead, and then more than takes a run with the mechanics of browser based MMORPGs. Nexus War is to Urbandead what 3.5 d20 is to Basic D&D. Nexus War concept: The universe is dying. It's up to those chosen to fight on Valhalla to choose what ethos will rule its design. Good, Evil or free will. Character classes: There are three "tiers" of character class. On the first tier, everyone starts out as the "mortal" class. However, the selection of starting skills is large, so few mortals are similar. XP is gained through destruction or repair. MO, or morality, is also affected by who/what is destroyed and repaired. Level 10 is where characters can choose more specialized classes, becoming a spellcaster or combat class in one of the three ethos: Good (angels), Evil (demons) or unaligned (heroes). Level 20 is where the characters further specialize, becoming for instance, a Lord of Stygia (Dark Oppressor class), or an answerer of prayers (Advocate). Character advancement: characters gain levels when they receive enough XP. At each level, a character receives CP (Character Points), which can then be spent on skills at later tiers, spells. There are other methods of gaining CP, finding an "Exploration Badge" for instance. Factions: Factional feuding and warfare is fully integrated into the game. Factions can declare themselves evil, good or unaligned, which limits the types of classes that can join the faction. For instance, characters with a demon class can only join an Evil faction. While the neutral classes can join any. Faction size yields bonuses to its members. Honor is integrated in, so a large faction can be penalized for attacking a much smaller faction. Items: NW features a wide range of mundane and magic items. Weapons range from a golf club, to swords, to bows, to SMG's. The game is highly entertaining and somewhat complex. It is in open beta, so changes and updates are ongoing. The game developer, Jorm, pays attention to his user base. I recommend reading the Wiki (wiki.nexuswar.com) to become familiar with the game before going in. There is a learning curve, but it's worth it. Each player can have one account. Each account can have 3 characters. It is common to realize a mistake in how you have built one of your starting characters, so don't be afraid to use the "Delete Character" button...
