Night Hag to D20 Modern

Hey all, I was wanting to get your input for "converting" the NH in the MM to D20-M.

Her immunities are fine for the most part.

Her DR is a bit staggering (20/+3) for D20 Modern though and I want to try and figure out something other then a +3 weapon to hurt her with.

Her detection spell-abilities are fine.

Magic missile, ray of enfeeblement and sleep are powerful against those with no magical defenses, but simply limiting their uses should make up for that.

And her polymorph self spell I was simply going to limit it to "looking like a little old lady" to disguise her nature.

Well...

NH's are quite strong for even a well equipped D20 modern group. You might first consider definatly dropping the DR to at most 10/+1, maybe 10/+2, this way combat is a good option.

Never limit the uses of your monsters, instead consider practical applications for them. For example have the party meet the NH in a terrain where she is unaccustomed to, this way you have a few reasons for her to slip up or maybe have her hit something with a Magic Missile that she shouldn't have (gas vent?).

I think with a few tweeks the Hag could be a really cool villan to throw into a campaign. How were u intending on using her for yours?

For the purposes of her DR, I was going to try to find something OTHER then a magical weapon. ie, silver, or something to that effect.

One thing I had considered was making electricty negate her DR for the round (or perhaps for 5 segments after being hit by hit); that way the PCs could figure out her weakness and try and use it against her or something.

My original idea of using her would actually probably be a waste of her as a enemy. Though it though it may be a good way to set her up as a long-term antagonist.

Basically the PCs are going to run into a group of fugitives from justice. They have committed a robbery at a jewelry store and are on the lamb and have holed up for the next day or two at this small hotel.

The group takes them down and the local sheriff takes the fugitives into custody for SanFransico PD can come pick them up.

Unknown to all is that during the robbery the three guys took the hag's Heartstone (having no idea what it is or who she was). Now the Hag has tracked them down and is looking for the necklace.

So into town comes a little old lady with her two grandsons (read ogres) to get her necklace back.

Nice story!

I like the idea of having the PC's steal her hearstone, it'll probably take em a while to figure out what in the heck is going on, and who this scary lady is!

Maybe instead of fidgeting with her actual DR you could set it up so when the PC's fight her there is some sort of mechanism that will be able to kill her (peraps some sort of crushing mechanism or a smelting device), this way you give the PC's a good way to kill the enemy without having to load em up with equipment.
