Nintendo DS wireless capabilities

Hey all,

I haven't paid too much attention to the Nintendo DS until a friend brought one to work with the new Mario Kart game yesterday. I was hooked! Since then I've talked to people and gone online to learn about the wi-fi. How does it work?

Amazon.com says you can play friends up to 100 feet away and uses the example of playing against friends on a bus. But nintendo.com says you need to be in a hot spot or have a wireless router in your home. So what's the deal?

I'm not sure, but I think you probably could just hook up two together as an ad-hoc network.

But to battle with anyone anywhere, you would have to be in a Wi-Fi spot. Failing that, there is a peripheral you can buy that hooks up to a PC's USB slot, and you can share its internet.

mojo1701 is correct - it'll play through normal wireless multiplayer (single cart or multi-cart).

But to go online, you need a wireless hotspot, wireless router, or Nintendo's new peripheral that attaches to a PC's USB port.
