So has anybody else purchased this? I'd never read the comics, but I gave it the once-over a few times in the book store. I thought it might be interesting to steal ideas from for my Pulp/Supers game. Eventually my wife told me to get it over with and buy it because she was tired of going to the book store to watch me ghost past it three or four times. (What can I say, I don't make decisions easily! :) ) Anyway, after going through it and getting into it, I realize it is ENTIRELY different from my own game. My game is inspired by Doc Savage pulp novels from the 30s, Gumshoe noir flicks, and chinese Wuxia films (well, one episode, anyway). Nocturnals is more about the B-Horror, Spaghetti Westerns, and Strange Science pulps ... All retro pastiche to be sure, but pulling from different genres. My wife has read through it and has fallen in love with the whole concept; to the point that she's dressing up like Eve Horror for Halloween ... having never actually read a Nocturnals comic (can't find any of the TPBs in the Cinci/Hamilton area ... had Queen City call around a bit, but no dice). I'm one of those fellows that can't seem to use a canned product "As Is" off the shelf, but I'm seriously considering doing-so for this ... maybe the setting is just broad enough that it lends itself to gaming. There's also a whole new history of genre for me to shamelessly harvest for ideas. Anybody else doing anything with this? Figure October tis the season, if no other. --fje
