Message: <blockquote data-quote="Argyle King" data-source="post: 6103355" data-attributes="member: 58416">Steve Jackson (US) of SJ Games fame.As others have already mentioned, he designed The Fantasy Trip, Car Wars, and GURPS.  He has also designed several other games which include (but are by no means limited to) Munchkin, Cthulu Dice, and Zombie Dice.  His past creations were great games, and he's still actively creating games which are both well designed and fun to play.  It's quite obvious that I'm a bit of a fanboy when it comes to his company's products, but that came about because of the fact that I found the games produced by SJ Games to be fun and enjoyable, and many of the games I count among my favorites were designed by Steve Jackson.    It's also been my perception that he's still a gamer at heart and someone who genuinely (and openly) enjoys being part of the gamer community.  Games are still something he loves to create and loves to play.  While that can also be said of many people who make their living making games, it cannot be said of all of them.There are still people who play The Fantasy Trip.  GURPS won the Origins award for Best Roleplaying Rules in 1988; the game was later placed in the Origins Hall of Fame.  GURPS products recently were nominated for and won Ennies.  Munchkin won Origins awards in both 2000 and 2001.  Zombie Dice won an Origins award in 2011.  I'll be the first one to admit that awards aren't everything; there are plenty of movies, music artists, and etc which win awards and I feel they are awful.  However, the fact is that Steve Jackson has been winning awards for nearly 30 years, and he's produced excellence with a variety of different game types and styles.  Among those types and styles is the rpg industry, and GURPS is a game which is still around and actively supported today -something which can't be said of many games and companies.For his skill as a game (including rpg) designer, longevity, and active efforts to support the gaming community, I feel Steve Jackson deserves to be in the hall of fame.</blockquote>
