Elevator pitch: The game takes place on a map of Earth in a legendary past roughly 80 kya. Due to the ongoing glacial period, sea levels are considerably lower than now, and the effects on elevation of isostatic uplift/depression are reversed in the relevant places. About 700,000 years before the game begins, godlike beings (the Hallows) who had collectively dreamed the world into existence in the eternal time before the world was made, descended to Earth from other parts of the universe after discovering the presence on Earth of the genus Homo, and, thus, that it will be the primary setting of the cosmogonical drama. The majority of the Hallows, however, have since (as of about 240 kya) retreated to an island-continent on the Azores Plateau and adjoining parts of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, leaving the rest of the world at the mercy of the Hallow of Fire, a powerful necromancer who dwells in the far north and claims the Earth for his possession. The players play various members of the genus Homo as they interact with each other and the dangers of the world. Peoples: Gnomes (Neandersovans/Denisovans) arose to the north, in the mountains of the Eurasian landmass, as a result of the collaborative dreaming of the Hallows of Life and Earth. From there, they spread mainly to the east and southeast. Dwarves (Homo neanderthalensis) were "crafted" by the Hallow of Earth to be hardier than other gnomes, suited for the harsh colds and dangers of a world under the dominion of the Hallow of Fire. Their homeland is in the mountains of Western Eurasia. Nymphs (Homo sapiens) came about in the lake and riverine environments of East Africa as a result of the collaborative dreaming of the Hallows of Life and Water and spread from there to much of the rest of the world. Elves were a multicultural coastal community of nymphs in the Levant who experienced an "awakening" under the influence of the Hallow of Light. Men were another group who arose shortly after the elves just to the east in a place called Eden, a "garden" fed by four rivers that merged in the Persian Gulf Basin. Once they had been "cast out", they travelled primarily to the east. Sylphs (Ghost hominin) were the result of collaboration between the Hallows of Life and Air and had their original home in the forests of West Africa from whence they spread to the adjoining woodlands of the world. They are tall, resembling the trees they love. Those who traded the tall trees of the forests for the heights of the hills and mountains were called Giants, Ogres, and Trolls. Salamanders (Homo naledi) inhabited the volcanoes of Southern Africa and the hearths of nearby peoples, resulting from the collective dreaming of the Hallows of Life and Fire. They spread to the furnaces of the world, both natural and domestic, and those who inhabited the forges of the Hallow of Fire entered into his service and became known as Goblins, Kobolds, and Orcs. Hybrids are possible, so dwarf-elves, gnome-nymphs, or even troll-men are playable, for example. Classes: Bard, Burglar, Fighting-man, Hunter, Lore Master, Sorcerer.
