[QUOTE="AbdulAlhazred, post: 5335406, member: 82106"] Personally I've had the best luck with the Chessex mats. They are good sized, so you are not too likely to run off the edge of the mat, they roll up so really they're not hard to store/transport (you can fold them, but eventually that will do them in). It is true you need to be careful to use the OHP style pens, but I've had some of the same mats for 20 years and if you scrub them off with a bit of soap and water now and then or even a bit of alcohol you can get most anything off. A little discoloration never really hurt anyone either ;) They are also way cheap compared to most other solutions. A $20 mat will cover all your needs. If you go for tile sets you'll probably have to spend $100 to have all you need for every occasion. Personally I'm an anti-fan of tile sets anyway. I think half the problem with WotC adventures these days is the blind insistence that every encounter has to be done on their tiles. It just kills real creativity when putting together encounters. Nothing is nicer than a blank map, it could turn into anything. Never tried the Paizo flip thingy, that might be a nice idea. Honestly though, even if you just use some graph paper things will go OK. We used to just slap a few sheets of .25" ruled paper down and draw things out quick with a marker. It really doesn't have to be perfect as long as the players can tell what is what and who is where.
