Northern Crown

Figures...well I am glad Iron Kingdoms is still around...so far.

Dude, Iron Kingdoms isn't going anywhere for a while. At least as long as their Warmachine gravy train is still a cruisin'.

As far as Northern Crown goes, go pick up Witch Hunter. Any fan of NC would do well to check that game out.

Set in colonial times? Check.
Super-bad villains with cool powers? Check.
Gorgeous art? Check.
Secret masonic societies? Check.

Much love for Witch Hunter.

Since then, work, school, and family has kept me out of the designer's chair, but I'm not out of RPGs by any means -- I've been developing tools to allow gamers to use Second Life as a virtual tabletop for traditional RPGs -- for free -- there's a link to screenshots in my sig file.
Hmmm, that's interesting.

Are copies of the setting still available?

Yes, I picked up the two NC books earlier this Summer (very good stuff, too). Actually, NC was what broguth me back to D&D 3.5 -- I'd pretty much burned out on the utter generica of the official D&D settings a while back and so I switched to running C&C via Arduin last Summer. That was fun, though the players wanted more tactical options and mechanical definition for characters, so back to D&D it was. . . only I wasn't having much fun. Till I checked out Northern Crown. Since then, however, I've become pretty convinced that d20 is just an okay for the setting and really want to marry it to vs Monsters, instead. Maybe for a one-shot (at any rate, that's all I really have time to run anymore).

I picked up both books a few months back, and was impressed with the setting. I haven't run it, but would like to, at some point. However, I would use it more as a sourcebook, I think. I don't think I'd run it with d20; I might think about Savage Worlds or Lejendary Adventure, though.

Agreed. Their IK material is gorgeous, and they always support it in their lovely bi-monthly magazine. It's a solid piece that's here to stay for a while.

Savage World seems like it would be a good fit, actually. . . and with Solomon Kane on the horizon. Hmmm. . .
