Howdy, all. We're a group of 3 players in Northern VA (Fairfax County, mostly), experienced with 3.etc, and are looking for a DM (and potentially a 4th player). We tend to play pretty loosely; not excessively going out-of-character, but not squashing side chatter either. We're college-age, early twenties, and while we have no objections to gamers of any real age, we'd prefer not to deal with kids. 1) Due to issues of work and such, we often can't start a game until late evening. Therefore, we tend to play late into the night, like 8pm-3am or suchlike. Ideally, we'd want a weekly game, Saturday evenings. 2) While I myself enjoy a good worldbook, alas the other two don't quite feel the same way. I wouldn't expect them to read a lot of material on the world the game is set in; a map, maybe some general stuff, but there wouldn't be much point in handing over, say, a Forgotten Realms worldbook and expecting them to know which country's which. Oh, also, one of us seems to have some objection to FR specifically, and Eberron just looks ... wacky. 3) Hack & slash is fine, a mixture of RP and hacking is fine, but please no "And this session, you're going to be spending all your time chatting with NPCs." Investigative stuff is cool, but we do like to roll dice. 4) Really not sure how to explain this, but we tend towards a rule-oriented game. That is, we like to know the mechanics for how things work, and hate having those changed without warning. No objection to lots of house-rules, or a by-the-book game, but we'd want the rules in the campaign to stay consistent. Definitely don't fudge things to keep us alive; if we die, we want to die fairly, and if we live, we want to have earned it. 5) We'd probably need a place in which to game, preferably a house or apartment or dorm common room or somesuch due to late-night games. I've got access to a house in Springfield, but it's a bit of a dump. Email me at kafziel@gmail.com if you're interested, and we'll see what's what. Thanks, all.
