Comic books and serials are famously all second act in terms of structure, and, even granted Hollywood's previous forays into serialized storytelling, they still feel and work very differently than other movies.  I'm not as willing to say they're not cinema, but they're clearly a very different type of cinema than Scorsese's films or his influences.  Like, there're no meaningful touchpoints between Avengers: Civil War and 8 ½.</blockquote>
