Now that Paizo is on the verge of releasing Starfinder, should WotC bring back Star Frontiers?

Since Paizo is going to create a space opera equivalent to Pathfinder, would it be a good idea for Wizards to create a new version of Star Frontiers to compete with Starfinder? They would have both a high fantasy game and a space opera game to compliment each other.

I could see them throwing the old version up on Drivethrough or DMsG or whatever as a PDF/PoD.

But seriously, they only produce 3(?) D&D books a year as is. If they re-worked SF would you be happy with 1 or two, maybe no D&D while that happened?

Perhaps as an Unearthed Arcana article. But as a full-fledged setting? Not really. There are plenty of better sci-fi RPG's and settings out there, though. So, personally, I wouldn't be interested. (I'm also not interested in Starfinder for very much the same reason.)

You don't bring out products just for the sake of competition. You generally look for an unfilled niche.

Someone did a 5e conversion of Star Frontiers in the magazine Star Frontiersman.

I would love to see WotC (or somebody) produce a space opera version of 5e. Maybe a Star Wars-type thing with the official serial numbers filed off. I tweeted Rodney Thompson about this when 5e first came out.

No. Don't sully my fond memories of the 80s anymore that we already have. ;)

On a related note, anyone ever notice how much Star Frontiers lifted from the Pip and Flinx books by Alan Dean Foster?
