Now THIS bard kicks ass!

Cool story from our most recent session:

Our party recently got into a huge scrap with some jacked-up orcs (they were members of this orc special guard; all had levels in fighter).

Our bard backs away from the group and says, "Fight on, my friends." Then she whips out her mandolin.

Then the bard's *player* says, "Time out!" and whips out this CD he had burned. He sticks said CD into the stereo...

...and a few seconds later, out comes the diva's song from THE FIFTH ELEMENT, complete with the sounds of Lulu in battle, rocking the entire gaming room (which is small to begin with :p )

The player rests back in his chair, and says, "I inspire courage."

He did...

Man, it was so cool, listening to that rockin' opera/new wave tune while taking turns in the battle. The music also represented his character singing her spells and her fascinate ability (which he used on three of the orcs). (BTW the player is male, but the bard is a female elf).

Iron Man

That's pretty cool. (Sorry, I'm not l337 enough to spell it "kewl" =-).

Any way, I plan on doing something similar. In the campaign I'm DM'ing, the party will encounter an Adamantine Golem. As I begin to describe him, I'm gonna turn on "Iron Man" from Black Sabbath. Hopefully, it'll set the right atmosphere.

Thanks for the story!

Hee Hee! Good delivery and choice!
My group's current bard is an over achiever (to me at least) and has even come up with little ditties on her own for her spells :)
The best was in the middle of fighting a dragon she starts to sing -right there in the room- an original song of how incompetent and easy dragons are to kill.
We often have music for big events and battles. and as a player I think it definitely adds a cool aspect for us the players :) and I recommend anyone who has not added music to try it at least once :)
