[NWN] Will it run on a PII-400?

Anyone know? It's got a 32 megabyte TNT2 card in it, and has 256 megs of ram. I don't mind if it's slow or ugly, but some games put code in them to not let them be run on computers below the minimum specs.

I do have a faster computer, but it has a built in video card that definitely won't run the game (and is about half as slow at 3D as the P2-400 w/ the TNT2 card).

I'm running it on a P2-400, but I have 416 MB of RAM and a GeForce 4. It runs pretty good, a little slow but not too bad. I'm not sure how good it would run with less than that though.

Hate to say this, but I've seen Neverwinter on a setup disturbingly similiar to yours. Slow does not BEGIN to describe the excruciating agony. At times the framerate is measurable in spf, not fps. I think it's the TNT that's the problem.

NWN seems to have peculiar tastes for hardware. Slow as molases on my 1.3 GHz system with an ATI card. Unnacceptable, really, considering the system screams through every other game.

P2 400 and Neverwinter Nights

I run Neverwinter Nights on a P2 400, although it does have a Geforce 2 MX, rather than a TNT 2, and 384Mb of RAM, rather than 256. I haven't encountered situations where the game has been unplayable in my playing so far. I have reached chapter 2, and I will admit that the big map at Port Llast does chug somewhat. The smaller maps are pretty good from a framerate point of view.

I suspect that RAM won't be a problem, but that TNT 2 card will be. A low end graphics card and a low end processor, with a demanding 3D game is just asking for trouble.

Well, yes, with a GeForce 2 the game is perfectly runnable. I already said the TNT card was likely the issue. Since the person who ASKED has one of those, he likely won't be able to run the game acceptably.

As for the guy with the ATi card, I understand those do OpenGL primarily in software, which is, of course, slow as molasses compared to a hardware implementation. Although I'm not sure about the newest Radeons (whatever they're called, I personally loathe ATi with a passion)

I', running it on a P3-450, 512MB, Matrox G400MAX. I can't (obviously) run it on 1600*1200, but 800*600 with most of the features turned off makes for an enjoyable game...

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Will my computer be able to run Neverwinter Nights properly?

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp My system consists of:
  • Pentium 4, 1.6 GHz
  • GeForce4 Ti4600 videocard
  • SoundBlaster Live! soundcard
  • 512mb DDR SDRAM
  • 16x speed DVD-ROM drive
  • 80gb hard drive
  • Windows XP Home Edition

Nice one, GoodSport. Seriously though, after all the weird results I've heard about, all I can say is: maybe. Less than 10 frames per second on mine. And yes, I know how to use the 'video options' panel.
