OF Sound Mind - Don't Miss the Boat!

First Post
I know that most of you are used to my cute little shameless promotional plugs here, but let's get semi-serious for a moment:

Go buy OF SOUND MIND by Kevin (Piratecat) Kulp!

Have you ever said, "Man, I wished I'd picked that up when I had the chance!"

Well, don't say you haven't been warned! :)

It's a freakin' awesome adventure, full of cool ideas and extras that are worth the price of admission alone.

If you use psionics in your game, and you've wondered at the total lack of support for psionics in 3E -well, here it is!!

If you haven't picked it up because you don't use psionics - well, let me tell you there is NOTHING in the adventure that requires that you have any psionic PCs. Any character can play through this adventure. There are a few (very few) monsters that have psionic powers, but notes are included dealing with adapting these (simply) to non-psionic use.

If you haven't picked it up because you don't need a low-level adventure - the thing scales easily up to 5th or 6th level, and it would be pretty simple to adapt it further!

If you didn't pick it up because you don't use published adventures - well, then, just pick it up for the counters! That's right - full color counters included! And new magic items, monsters, spells, and HANDOUTS!

If you haven't picked it up because you didn't see it in your store - Please ask for it! If the clerk doesn't think they have access to it - point to the 9000 Vampire: the Masquerade books on their shelves and tell them to go through the same channels! It's distributed by White Wolf, for crying out loud!

Of Sound Mind is holding its own, sales-wise, in this crowded d20 market, but really, it should be dominating!!

And, honestly, there should be WAY more reviews of this adventure, and at least two threads daily about its greatness. Where's the discussion, people? You've got more access to the author here than ever before. :)

I know that with the flood of stuff each week, stuff sems to spend about an hour or two on the new release shelf before being moved to the racks in the back!

All I'm saying is: Don't let this be one of those times when you missed out. Don't let this be one of those times when you let something cool slip through your fingers. It's doing well (and we do better than most), but it's hard to justify a reprint in the current d20 market, so this will very likely be the only printing you'll see. And, with two sequels coming out, it would be a shame if you missed getting in at the ground floor.

Honestly, consider this some sort of 3E public service announcement. Because a few months from now, you'll be hearing about how part 2 is even better than the first one, which was excellent on its own! But, you won't be able to compare, because you won't be able to find it. :(

So, please, get with buying already!

And, let's get the discussion moving already! Where are the reviews, people??!

I was going to review it once I'd run the adventure (scaled up to a 6th level party). Perhaps there haven't been many reviews because people don't want to give away excellent plot elements in open forums?

The adventure is pure excellence to read, and I'm longing to run it. I wish more adventures were of this quality.

I also have to say that the production standards of the adventure are great too - the layout, printing, use of whitespace and other stuff really improve the presentation over what I've been used to seeing.

If you are a DM, don't miss out on this adventure.

If you are a player, ask your DM to work it into his campaign - you won't regret it (well... )

Cheers

Thanks ~D. Yes, Beyond All Reason* is also out, and IMHO, an awesome epic adventure. It's 72-pages for $10.95! And, it's not simply a 30-page adventure that we've padded - we had to fight to cram it in to 72, believe me. It's PACKED!!!

OK, I'm going to work now, so I won't be able to check in with this thread (and the 2 others that are sure to start about Of Sound Mind, because it deserves discussion) until I get home tonight, but I expect it to keep going!! :)

So, c'mon - pour it on! Who's going to go buy the adventure? Who's got it and loves it? Who's got it and hates it?

Cheers and Jeers for Piratecat!

Bring 'em on.

And, if you're not buying it, list some reasons so that I have something to refute later.

Thanks!!!

*BAR sees the addition of yet another EN Boarder to the FDP family: SH Jones, who's contributed the conversion notes for the A1-4 series in Morrus' conversion library, did the editing on this one! For everyone who talks about the good ol' G1-2-3 series, you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't go pick this up. Seriously, I think there's more adventure per page in this baby than any product yet released.

I'm with Plane Sailing. I've bought it and plan on running it, but the party is kinda stuck at this point (those poor poor fools, out of the frying pan, eh?)

I'm waiting on writing a review until I've actually ran a game with it, makes it sound more like an informed opinion than fanboy praise :)

I haven't run it yet, but I will in the next campaign I start, but I'll tell you I like what I'm seeing so far. I described one of the first encounters to a friend of mine, who described it as kind of surreal and disturbing. I won't mention which encounter for anyone who has not checked it out yet, but I'm anyone who has knows what I'm talking about. :)

I think it's time ...

to put in an order to good ol' Derek [edit: oops, Derrick is for an oil rig]... I'd go out and buy it, but I like to get mail once in a while too :)

I can't find it in my local store! I've asked for it several times, but apparently they only order them one at a time. Bastards.

I'm going to persist. If the effers don't get it soon, I'm going to Derek!
