I wonder if there's any interest over at WOTC [or among the fans] in farming out the various d20 games from Polyhedron to official fan sites, a la the discontinued settings.
This would particularly make sense if WOTC keeps the minigames "in print" via pdf files available for download, plus additional support materials in Polyhedron.
Take "Pulp Heroes", for example --- a site with a message board, a links page, a bibliography, and some fan-created characters and adventures, and this thing could run for years. Post the minigame pdf for five bucks.
And Gamma World d20? If WOTC started a fan-run official site and let them post some out-of-print campaign support, updated for d20, surely they could make a few bucks selling the pdf files.
More importantly...as the d20 system branches out into different genres, I'd like to see these websites as "The Ultimate Pulp RPG" or post-apocalyptic RPG or spacebuckler RPG sites.
Just a thought...if I had the free time to do it right, I'd volunteer to run the Pulp Heroes site myself...
