For the early part of his career, William Onatah (AKA Chymera) served as one of a handful of superpowered protectors for the First Nations communities within Alberta, Canada. In particular, he fought to protect these communities from the depredations of unscrupulous oil and natural gas companies operating without regard for the people or the land. His unorthodox tactics, a necessity given his opponents’ wealth and resources, earned him a reputation as a dangerous and unpredictable foe.
In a fraction of a second, too brief for the human mind to register, university researcher Minka Denyska suffered radiation exposure severe enough to kill a human being. Somehow, for reasons she’s never been able to explain, she not only survived but came away possessing the ability to generate and control radiation from her body. The accident forever changed her life in ways both good and not-so-good. The public and the media remain ignorant of details regarding the incident.
