He knew his methods of approaching challenges, and he didn’t want teammates who would simply tell him what he wanted to hear—he needed allies who would say to him what he needed to know and hear. When he first met the young woman, Glory, he felt hesitant about including her on the team. Certainly, her psionic powers had a place on the team, and he admired her grit, determination, and passion. At the same time, he wondered if she was too intense, maybe a touch too driven; her intensity frightened him. It didn’t take him long to appreciate the strength and willpower Glory brought to the Sentinels. He knew that even if everyone else on the team was down, she would continue the fight no matter what.The first mission of the United Sentinels of America—a fight against Helix terrorists—revealed the team’s strengths and their flaws. While they possessed bravery and heroism in abundance, their enthusiasm almost cost them when they stumbled into an ambush. The team leader, American Patriot, realized his group needed better recon and thus sought to recruit a scout with speed and agility. He interviewed several candidates. He met with many extraordinary individuals, but no one impressed him as much as the young woman known as Rushmore did. Adding a super-speedster to the Sentinels gives the group a much-needed boost and an added dimension to their tactics. Her powers allow her to rapidly enter an area, search it for threats and obstacles, and report back to the team in seconds.
