The Tome show had an interview with a principle of Realmworks who talks about their licensing talks with WotC and an imminent 'SRD' as he called it.

At minute 50 they begin to talk about their possible soon to be license with Wizards and either with Hero Lab or Realm Works. At minute 53 he starts to talk about the OGL and it sounds like he's either seen it or knows it's imminent.

I listened to that section and I don't think it's as certain as you heard. He specifically says that he is making the guess about an 'srd' coming this quarter by reading "the tea leaves" and reading tweets by Mearls. That doesn't mean he's wrong, but I also don't think he has insider knowledge at this point. The more exciting bit is that he believes that he can get a license for 5E support for his products. That's intriguing and something we have already seen with Smiteworks' Fantasy Grounds. It's possible that his conversations around that have influenced his perspective on a new license (he states that he thinks an srd would be between the basic rules and the PHB of some sort), but it's still conjecture.

Tantalizing conjecture to be sure, but still conjecture. I hope it happens though. I really would like a robust and easy to use character creator for 5E.

Note those comments are about the content of the OGL. Not whether or not it is going to happen. About that he never says 'if' only 'when', until the host tries to set expectations back.

Sorry, that was rushed. I am also excited about a hero lab or realm works license. And I do agree that is probably the bigger news here.
