What I suspect is that they weren't expecting was how bad the reaction would be (which, let's be clear, is not because of Linda's reporting, which took a considerably softer and more optimistic tone than most of D&D YouTube rumours, all of which turned out to be correct). I'm not sure the PR people had even seen the actual document, either. The Beyond post very much has the tone of someone being told things, rather than someone who knows things.</blockquote>
