[QUOTE="myrdden, post: 771403, member: 549"] LOL!! I have to agree with you on this point. I really don't care to see an "alternate universe" either. If they want to go that route and us completely new ideas that contradict or muddle established concepts then create a new series that has no involvement with Star Trek. I want to see how things were in the beginning - not things in the beginning with Borg, Ferengi, Holodecks, cloaking devices etc, etc. I don't see the history of the show as a roadblock. Sure Earth isn't going to be pummelled out of existance. Sure there will be a Federation. Sure there will be a war with the Romulans. But that's basically it. There isn't a lot of detail regarding the early years of space exploration, so there is lots of room for details. We don't know what happens to the NX-01 specifically. We don't know what happens to individual crew members of the ship. How does Earth become such an intragalactic powerhouse with such a humble beginning? These are the details that can be explored without contradicting anything and without using stuff from the later series! What annoys me is the show has an excellent framework in place - namely the history developed by the other series - and yet they keep trying to fight against it which is producing lackluster results in my opinion.
