The party (standard 2e group) was tracking down this vampire. They followed him to this mausoleum. In the sarcoughagous they opened they found a set of stairs going down into darkness. Now, at this point in the 'hardcore' gaming session, my mom was asleep at the table. They woke her up and told her they had found the vampire. so her standard response to, what she thought was a combat situation, was Fireball. Now, the thing is, the set of stairs was an illusion, the real entrance to the lair was behind the mausoleum. So, a high level fireball, into a 10x10 mausoleum. The only members of the six member party that survived was the fighter in his fire resistant armour, and the rogue, who was behind the fighter.
