Okay gamers, here is a breif discription of the characters from the Ohio GAmeday Swashbuckling Adventure. I will have the stat blocks posted up as soon as I get them in a decent format. I know that most of you are returning to play your charcaters again but please feel free to suggest any changes you would like to make the character more fun for you to swash buckles with.
Evel Swiftblade (Played by DanMcS)
Half-elf Fighter 8
Captain of the Legendary Wind Sabre, Evel strives to pick up where the previous Captain left off, crusading to make the seas safe. Backed by the crown, Evel and his crew roam the seas chasing pirates, recovering captured nobles, and rescuing stolen treasure.
Evel’s father was once a corsair commissioned by the crown until his death protecting the ports in the great orc invasion. Since then it has been Evel’s dream to continue his family’s legacy, but without the restrictions placed on his father by the royal navy. The more daring the mission the better for Evel, who has made a name as a feared pirate hunter as well as a great ship captain.
(Highlight from last episode: Single-handedly defeating the enemy captain after disarming him with his 1st sword swipe. Boldly led his crew to recover the stolen chest after an ambush attempt.)
Tweaks (Played by Aurora)
Halfling Rouge 8
Tweaks is the Wind Sabre’s resident fix-it and tinker specialist. The small halfling would be the most demanded fix-it in the kingdom if he didn’t suffer from several small ticks. Namely, he is afraid of being in public, being in large groups, being alone, the dark, and heights. His only solace is that he loves to “Tweak” things, whether it is repair, recondition, appraise, unlock, relock, redesign… The wind sabre gives him the proper chance. He is never alone, never in a large group of people he doesn’t know and they are constantly bringing him things to open, appraise, unlock, redesign.
When called ashore, he sticks closely to the highest-ranking member of the party until they are safely back on board. The halfling is very safety conscious and rarely does things without thinking them through thoroughly. In combat the halfling is most often by or behind Bombast and Assimiril firing his repeating crossbow.
(Highlights: Pinned a were-rat to a wooden support beam. Along with Assimiril, Pete and Bomblast they didn’t allow a single ambusher to leave through the front doors.)
Bomblast (Played by Fett527)
Gnome Fighter 3 Expert 5
A wild and outrageous gnome, Bomblast is the Wind Sabre’s artillery sergeant. A master alchemist and inventor, he is always finding new methods of naval combat. His best invention is a mix of powders that explodes when ignited. This has lead to the invention of his Bomblasters, which employ the powder to project a small metal ball at a target, and the kegger, which is a small hand sized barrel packed with the explosive dust. (Larger Keggers are used in catapults)
Since his invention Assimiril and him have become best friends, and spend hours concocting new ways to explode things.
(Highlights: Intimidated an Orc yelling “Hold still while I reload so I can blast ya!” Shot the enemy magic user in the face at 30 paces with his bomblaster.)
Assimiril Longshadow (Played by Bubbalicious)
Sorcerer 8
After an orc raiding party surrounded and torched his village killing all but himself, you would think that Assimiril would have an aversion to fire, but that is not the case. The young elf has embraced the destructive elemental energy and uses it with awesome efficiency, especially against orcs. He has become one of the most feared battle sorcerers and has quickly mastered ship-to-ship combat, even if he is a one trick pony.
Outside of combat, ‘miril is a rather quiet soft-spoken individual but once the heat of battle begins he is lethal.
(Highlights: Blew the entire second story of the warehouse up with a well-placed fireball, obliterating the first wave of ambushers. Bravely jumped down into the sewers to aid his captain.)
Grimjip Keelhaul (Played By Kaffis)
Ranger (Sea) 8
Former scourge of the inner sea, the one-eyed Grimjip was Evel’s first bounty and has remained with the lad since his capture performing the duties of first mate. No one, save Grimjip, Evel, and the King, knows why the King allowed the ex-pirate to serve out his sentence under the watch of Evel but the partnership has been fruitful, and the first-mate shows undying loyalty to his new captain.
A former captain, Grimjip is a very confident individual, bordering on arrogant. He is one of the greatest sea trackers to ever hoist a sail, and his knowledge of the shipping lanes and wind currents is second to none. Despite his motto, “Be hard on your men, and soft with the ladies,” he is well liked with the crew, and not because of his deadly twin cutlasses. He is very competitive and often pushes his crew and his new Captain to perform at their best all the time.
(Highlights: Attempted many flashy maneuvers (Most of which failed) even after being showed up by the Captain. Held off the (Imaginary) third wage of ambushers while the party was safely out of sight.)
Kanji Hino
Monk 6 Eternal Flame Disciple 2
Disciples of the Temple of the Eternal Flames are the watchmen of the waters. They are responsible for the Eternal Flame Towers, which stand at every port marking the way for watchful ships. Chosen Disciples are also required to serve 5 years aboard sea going vessels acting as lookouts and tower scouts for the royal Navy and Rich Merchants in order to progress up the temple hierarchy.
Kanji is one of the Chosen, except that he has become an exception. The gifted disciple fulfilled his term 3 years ago but has never left the post aboard the Wind Sabre to pursue a higher post. His status has been threatened many times by the masters of the temple but each time he remains and brings honor and glory to the temple through their many quests, so he is always allowed to stay.
He claims that he stays because he feels that he has not yet truly mastered the art of balance that can only be achieved by time aboard a ship in a heavy squall. The Sabre’s crew usually smiles when he says this, as they have seen him in the worst of storms navigating a slippery deck without the benefits of a tie line or any other safety harness to keep watch for the ever-burning towers that signal safety.
(Highlights: Broke one were-rat’s nose and another’s arm. Used Crazy Pete as a shield (Ran around him for cover) while fighting four orc bandits. Used his bull rush punch to launch one Orc guard off the docks and into the bay.)
Ole Crazy Pete (Played by Clear Dragon)
Dwarf Cleric 2 Barbarian 6
He’s Old, He’s Crazy, He’s a dwarf, He’s Pete. Not much is known about Ole Crazy Pete, cept that one day he showed at the Wind Sabre up and proclaimed “I’s the new cook!” and after initially beating anybody who tried to remove him from the galley, he’s been aboard ever since. It has been said that Pete at one time was an up and coming naval officer aboard the WaveHammer, a Dwarven Vessel, sunk out at sea during a sudden storm and that he is the only survivor, found washed up on the beach draped in giant squid tentacles. . Not many believe the tale since Pete can’t swim. When asked how he survived, Pete simply shrugs and says, “I holds me breath.”
Pete does know some healing magic but it is unknown which deity grants it, as his spells are often accompanied with, “Whichever one of ya celestial lubbers is listenen…” or more often he creates a new deity. He once claimed to be possessed by the spirit of the Beaver god and preceded to gnaw through the enemy’s mainmast. (It didn’t hurt that it had already been splintered by a ballista shot.) No matter what he worships his spells are always granted.
(Highlights: Beat a were-rat for several rounds after it was dead, almost breaking the support beam that held up the roof. Used same were-rat as a shield and as a club. Was told by Captain to stop attacking the town guard (Even though they were imposters it was still funny.) Amazed everyone with his mithril Frying Pan of Returning)
