Message: <blockquote data-quote="D+1" data-source="post: 2163524" data-attributes="member: 13654">I play 3E (3.5 to be precise).  I prefer it.  I think it's better than all the other versions.  I would resist playing another version but could probably be convinced if it sounded like a fun campaign.  In particular I'd probably outright refuse to play 2E though.  I would also probably outright refuse to play another fantasy RPG.  Spies, western, Scifi, modern RPG's of any stripe?  Sure.  No problem.  I'm familiar with a few and know nothing about a hell of a lot more - but D&D I mess only with the best.  As it were.Is 3e the be-all end-all?  Not hardly.  It has a few flaws, a few areas that I won't mind seeing revised one day in the far FAR distant future.  But for now it's about as close to perfect as makes no real difference.It's like coffee.  You work at adding a little of this and that to it and just patiently wait to get it just perfect - just the right temperature so it won't burn your tongue but is still HOT, the right amount of cream and sugar and you want to SAVOR it for a while.  You know eventually as you get to the bottom of the cup it'll get too cool, and if a waitress is a little TOO fast on the refill you'll lose the balance of bitter bean juice, dairy and sugar.  Then you have to start over again getting it the way YOU want it even if it DOES keep the contents of your cup hot that way.</blockquote>
