I started in 1982, having never been a mere player. I went straight to the proper side of the screen. Note: I have played some since then, but have never enjoyed it as much as DM'ing. Also, I have had some truly horrible DM's. When I have told some of my stories of them, some people have wondered why I didn't press charges. Also note that the, "I could do better than this." response is my best motivator. I chose my profession after suffering through three horrible band directors. I was a senior in college before my first great director. Heh. My father chose his profession (he was a police officer for 25 years in northeastern New Jersey) on a bet. Someone bet him he couldn't do their job (after my dad ridiculed him for his incompetence), so in 1955, he became a town cop in NJ, just across from NYC.
