It seemed a bit strange at first after playing 3.5 but we got back into the swing of things.  I am player in this game, and another player recently say about 2 months ago started pretty much complaining they didn’t want to play the game and would go to bed or even fall asleep during the game on couch [dm wife] Fortunately we did continue to play the game and progressed even with her apparent strike Which was my first warning sign  but after this occurred the dm didn’t award that player xp and we both play wizards so inevitably I ended up with more xp and more powerful  Now its worse she is “playing again” and just being difficult at every turn almost intentionally Apparently she learned to speak elf as human so she could understand me and the other human who speaks it on occasion. Recently in an encounter while she was sleeping on the couch during game I got a pretty sweet scroll of 6 spells one of which was fire ball I happened to end up at an elf mage tower and started speaking to them in elf about possibly trading scrolls to copy others as magic is Uber rare in this game and the mage in the tower was admiring it she while standing blurts out in elf as surprise what you holding out on me? Caught you!!!  I thinking maybe if you didn’t sleep during those games this wouldn’t happen but I look at her and say no I got this on adventure you weren’t present on. End of story she moaned so bad I ended saving it for her [major infraction] Again I wouldn’t have minded sharing it just her attitude and approach was terrible rather than hay I could really use that she accuses me of theft  To make this worse she is playing a specialist wizard of like divination and has I think sleep and shocking grasp as her only 2 attack spells at level 4 and every other attempt to learn others she repeatedly fails spell learn rolls.  I have let her try multiply spells learn rolls out of my book she fails almost always.  The dm only allows one attempt per source per spell and we are playing a spell starved world so I didn’t get to copy spells into my book till I was 5th level for the first time which I failed a few times but not like her. So in many encounters she is completely useless and I get her attitude because of it  Example #2 When the dm sent us on quest recently he had plot lead that wanted us to find the war chief of a band of hobgoblins and other races. We got a lead telling us in the mountains to the north then all of a sudden she as her character keeps arguing with plot lead NPC telling him well we need a map we cant just go looking for mountains to the north as I am think wait isn’t D&D about going out and finding adventures [minor infraction] Really but still she seems to want to stall the game rather than see it get better. To me at this point it seems her attempt to sleep it away didn’t work so now she is going to try to make someone else quit and then quit so there aren’t enough players. So back to the story we start traveling to the mountains and on the first night we stop, about 20 miles outside of town We wait till dusk and are attacked by 5 shadowy figures.  In round 1 I cast fireball and take out 2 and light up the battlefield for the humans with out infro vision.  Round two I soften up 2 with a magic missile Our fighter swings and it passes though with his normal weapons so he pulls out his 2 handed magical weapon for the next round.  She see the monsters realizes none of her divination spells will work and backs up and leans on a tree, Then when she see me as wizard take my long sword and go after one she just keeps standing there she contributed nothing to the entire combat The sad part is she has a magical staff that is of artifact level that would effect the monsters but she refuses to get in melee range. she knows in game and out of game this staff is magical she has seen as her character it glows with out the need of a detect magic and it was huge quest to get it.  But she rather lean against the tree not endanger her self and get her xp and wine about the treasure she is entitled to for doing nothing I actually got into melee with these ghosts and hit one with my magical long sword with a –5 penalty to hit.  So get this at the end of the fight she starts yelling at my character about setting the forest on fire with my fireball? I look on the board and there are 6 trees in total on fire, as drawn on the combat grid Really I take a shovel out of my pack and start throwing dirt on the trees to put them out. Really? After you did nothing not a dam thing and will expect your share of the loot and xp ? Your going to complain I defeated foes that would have otherwise killed you, as you wouldn’t be bothered to swing your staff because someone else did it for you. Over all the only choices i see are these  PK or refuse to travel with her if it keeps up I fully believe when ether occurs she will throw a tantrum and make the game end as per her original plan that failed by sleeping it away and making it clear she didnt want to play it anymore.  What would you do would you even share this letter with the dm ? my biggest problem its his wife and there my roomates kind of bad all around  Starting to think gaming with the people you live with is a bad idea anyone else had any exp on this subject and wants to impart wisdom or story please feel free too </blockquote>
