Pathfinder 1E OMG!! What a huge Paizo Dragon "mini"?

Obviously, it's not a miniature (maxiature?) for everyone. But while I was at Origins looking at it, I saw 3 people preorder it. So apparently there are some people that find value in it. :)

Hmmm, when does it stop becoming a "miniature" and start becoming a lawn ornanment? I mean, you can get the latter for a lot cheaper than $250. Granted, a Plastic Flamingo might not be appropriate ...

Oooh! Idea for my next game! Beware the Colossal Fiendish Dire Flamingo of Doom! :D

Chop it up in little pieces I bet it looks smaller too. :p

Didn't think this needed explaining, but the body--the part with the sinew, teeth, and claws--is what makes a monster big and nasty. A midget with enormous feet doesn't constitute a terrifying giant (unless you just have a phobia about midgets).

The extremely-distended wings are a rather blatant attempt to "pad-out" its size far beyond what it would be otherwise.

I suppose the wings are okay in relation to the body size. But I understand what you mean. The actual body size of the dragon is not that extreme, and the height is not only due to the wings, which are responsible for the upper 13½ of the 24 inches, but also by the fact that the lowest foot can be found at about 5 inches height (the stuff below is the tail). Nevertheless, it will take up quite a bit of space when you move the tree around on the battlemat :D.

I think it's more something for people who like to have a showpiece on their mantelpiece :).

It didn't help that the first time I saw this thing was in a Flash preview that oh-so-cleverly kept the mini silhouetted and only revealed it in quick glimpses. Seemed pretty deceptive to me. /shrug

I look at it and finally see a dragon with wings big enough to allow it to actually fly. I think the wings add a lot to it, otherwise it's just a lizard on a rock.

I think the problem is more than if the wings were lowered and more around the body, the mini would be half the size.

I don't mind the wings myself, but the tree/rock whatever ruins it for me. It's not a dragon that stands 2 feet, it's a dragon wrapped around a pedestal with wings that stand tall.

It would still be neat enough, but for myself, the price to coolness ratio is just skewed.

I'm puzzled over the attention these things (enormous minis) get. Big dragons are easy to find. See the first attachment for a picture of a dragon I just bought today for $14. It doesn't stand as high as the Mag Egos one, but it's NOT all wings and base. (Granted, it doesn't have the same level of detail, but at $14 who's complaining?) And it wasn't the biggest one the vendor had.

Or if the Tiamat fig in WotDQ isn't big enough for you, go buy the foot-high one shown in the second pic for $75 online.

I dunno. It just seems like big dragons are easy to get. It's the more D&D-specific monsters that are harder to find... like an aboleth.
