One shot game - HELP

Balgus

First Post
Hey all...

I wil be playing a one shot game and wanted to get some feedback on a character.

I am thinking of playing a cleric - but have some flavor issues I want to flush out before I commit. Here are the two choices:

Dwarven Clr 6....vs...Human Rgr1/Clr5
+2 Con -2 Cha..........1 Feat
darkvision................+24 SP
+2 some saves
+1 lvl 2,lvl 3 spell....fav enemy,track, wild empathy
.............................fort +1
.............................ref +1
wil +1..............................
.............................martial weapon
heavy armor................
tower shield.................

So what do you guys think? any variation is fine.. make sure you stick to the core books...
Thanks

Well... in what role do you see yourself? The up-front bashing cleric that heals as necessary... at least, that's what it looks like to me.

If you're going to dip into Ranger, it's worth it to stay in it for two levels to get your combat bonuses, but of course you'd lose out on that precious 3rd-level spell slot. But since you're more of a beat-em-up cleric, it won't be missed much. Grab a hold of some cure wands and you're laughing anyhow.

If you're that keen on the Dwarf, you could take Track as your 1st-level feat. Or, make a Dwarven Rgr2/Cle4 and really mess people up.

Between your two choices, though, I kinda like the Human Ranger/Cleric a little more. That extra feat is all gravy. But heck, you might as well go Fighter instead of Ranger and get ANOTHER feat... make your General feat Track, and/or take Two-Weapon Fighting and Two-Weapon Defense. As long as your Dex is 15+, you can use two weapons to give you a +1 shield bonus and beat people with 'em.

In the long run, though, what kind of flavour are you looking for? That is, what do you want your character to DO, and how will THAT influence your character's role in the adventure?
