Onyx Path have announced they are developing a tabletop RPG called Dystopia Rising: Evolution based on Eschaton Media’s popular post-zombie apocalypse themed Dystopia Rising live-action scenarios. Eddy Webb has been hired as developer for the tabletop RPG which will be using Onyx Path’s Storypath System, which they have developed for the new Scion and Trinity Universe games. Dystopia Rising: Evolution is scheduled for a 2019 release.
Dystopia Rising (DR) is set in a post-zombie apocalypse world where characters fight to survive in horrific conditions. Created in 2009, DR has enjoyed a cult following of players who immerse themselves in live-action horror scenarios. Every weekend, DR players reside in survivor settlements to step away from the modern world and into a unique post-apocalyptic experience. Though it began as an event, DR has become so popular the property has spawned novels and the upcoming RPG.
A previous Dystopia Rising RPG was released in 2011, using the Mass Action system, which combined playing cards with d10 dice pools.
Dystopia Rising explores the grim realities of our potential future. A cruel, savage land is all that’s left, punished by generations of radiation and crude survival after civilization collapsed in the wake of a zombie apocalypse. Still, even in amongst the ruins and squalor picking through the remains of rusted-out strip malls and decaying suburbs, there are survivors.
Kit-bashed shelters and improvised scrap technology are the tools of these rugged individuals trying to find a way to live in these dark times. Each survivor must choose how to live in this lawless, uncivilized world. Will you fight as a paragon of humanity, rebelling against the dying light of civilization to build a better tomorrow, or will you succumb to the harsh realities of the world and prey on those without the killer instinct to survive?
