Valusia PbP Game This will be my first PbP game – as player or DM. You have been warned. :) Disclaimer: This is not a campaign, per se, but rather an adventure comprised by a number of mini-quests. I hope to have the adventure finished prior to the winter holidays. At that time, we can decide whether to continue the game in campaign fashion. Overview: This game will be conducted entirely in a Play-by-Post format here on ENWorld. The game will be played exclusively under 3.5 rules, utilizing only the 3.5 PHB, DMG, and MM. Rate of Play: Players are expected to be able to respond at least once per day from Mon–Thurs, though need not always do so. The rate of play will vary according to the in-game situation (combat or not) and real world events (holidays, weekends, vacations, etc.). Rather than attempt to quantify required posts, I’d prefer to just play and determine what works best for the group as a whole. If there are some players who seem unable to meet any evolved commitment, we’ll address that as required. Skill level: Players are expected to own the PHB and have a decent understanding of the 3.5 rules. I’ll be the first to admit I make mistakes – if you see that happen (and it will) I ask that you email me and not post it. We’ll adjust/rewind as necessary. Hopefully, this won’t be an issue. Character Generation: Characters will begin at first level with an “elite array” of ability scores (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8). Starting gold will be those set values indicated in the PHB (p. 111). All alignments are allowed but players are expected to adhere to whatever choice they make. The DM will work with each player, individually via email, to iron out backgrounds and answer campaign-specific questions. Please note that the characters will begin play in a provincial town and, as such, will have little knowledge of the world around them. This doesn't impact your choice of class, skill point allocation, etc. but I feel it's worth mentioning. It's an easy way to explain in-game a general lack of knowledge about the campaign world itself. Players interested in playing the Valusian-specific half-troll race might want to check the The Sins’ Rogues Gallery thread. This is one of the very few exceptions to the 'only 3.5 core rules' stipulation. Dice: Generally, the DM will roll all dice. Setting: The game will be set within the world of Ostia Prim. Players may wish to familiarize themselves with my DM’ing style and get a glimpse of the campaign world by reading the The Sins of Our Fathers story hour. Theme: Doom and gloom, simply put. Character mortality may be higher than what you might have become accustomed to in previous campaigns.
