This is gonna be a long post, I can feel it already. Just wanted to say that there might be a bit of Cthulhu Mythos stuff involved. Not much, but at least a little bit... So I changed my mind as I've been setting up the layout of the places you'll be visiting. I wanted to comment on how three different areas work in terms of game mechanics/die rolls. I was originally going to roll everything, but it might be more fun to let you guys do it. 1) Attacks: You can always roll your own attacks. If you don't have a d20 die, try Irony or just let me know that you want me to roll for you. 2) Saves/Sanity: I will always roll saves and sanity checks for you. 3) Skill Checks: Ok, about skill checks. Two types, checks you are unaware of and checks you call actively: Passive Checks -That is, checks you don't call for. -Throughout the game, I'll be doing passive checks, which are hidden from you guys. Most often these will be of the spot/listen variety, but others come into play as well, especially knowledge, sense motive, etc. Active Checks -I'll let you roll most of the active skills checks yourselves. Just assume that you can roll it yourself when you post(make the request OOC in your IC post, but also describe what you're doing IC). In some situations, even if you haven't actively called the check, there might be some aspects of your IC description that make a check obvious or warranted (this might be a good option for Master_Pugs, if you just want to say what you are doing/trying to do without being bogged down by stats). -Some active checks that you CAN'T roll for yourselves are: Cthulhu Mythos, Knowledge, Research, Search. For reasons of storyline, these need to be kept hidden. That's all I'm gonna say, as that's a bit of hint already. -Some active checks which you can always roll yourselves(note that some of these, like Sense Motive, are most often used passively and for slightly different reasons than active checks): Balance, Bluff, Climb, Diplomacy, Disable Device, Escape Artist, Heal, Hide, Innuendo, Intimidate, Jump, Listen, Move Silent, Open Lock, Psychoanalysis, Repair, Sense Motive, Spot, Swim, Tumble, Use Rope). I'll be keeping the DC or opposed rolls hidden, though.
