It might work when you're doing some american wrestling, but "soft" martial arts should use opposed DEX checks, or DEX vs STR or DEX, imo. - Can I have a look to see if I can find a more logical spell list for a mystic monk? I'm happy to take the adept spell list as it is if you don't want to change anything, but to me it seems that there are a few spells missing(magical fang) and a few that are not quite fitting with the concept of a mystic monk(flaming hands, prot vs law). - I've got a raven familiar. Do I play it as a cohort kinda thingie and do you occasionally take it over as you see fit (during combat and stuff), leaving me to do the RP'ing, or do you controll it all the time, or a weird mixture of both that we make up as we go along?</blockquote>
