Okay, a couple things: 1. I apologize for the crappy writing. It turns out posting 1/day is a challenge. I think with the time zones(i'm on Eastern Time), by the time everyone posts it's late at night and I'm just trying to churn out a post before I go to bed. I figure it's better to post something crappy than nothing at all. Typically, I'm a morning poster....and a constant during the day poster... To remedy this, I may just wait until tomorrow to update the IC to give everyone a chance to catch up. I kind of want to figure out what happened to Maximillion and see if he's trying to pursue Levenshire. 2. I think I haven't been 100% clear in my posts because people are getting confused. It's been a while since I've run a PbP - and I've never run a D&D pbp so I'm still getting the format under my belt. I'll get a proper description of the town up soon so you can orient yourselves and know what's going on. Just as a quick description: despite being walled, it is more of a village than a city. It has a very small population that has been built up around the fort/crypt. So most of the villagers are tradesmen who support the monks and priests in the fort and some Inns to support pilgrims who visit the various crypts and graves and people who come to pray at the Beacon of Pelor. As far as a standing army goes, they might have a "sherriff" who's elected to take care of issues and a few volunteer guards. You're not even sure the last time those gates have been closed. 3. You've all made it safely into the town. You'll be able to take a short rest and have a breather, But you're not exactly safe. You have no idea how many of the villagers inside the town have been turned. But I'll get into that in the next part of the adventure. (Chapter 2). This first part was mostly to get everyone together and set the mood. Which, in retrospect, is pretty grim, I guess. When I post the description of things IC, You can rp a bit and level up your characters to LEVEL 2. Feel free to do that in the meantime. If you used slots, they're still used but you get access to any new slots and any new spells you might acquire. You get HP but if you were already wounded, you will still be wounded unless you want to spend your HD to heal. But don't spend your HD right away. I just need time to post deal with Max and then flesh out the tavern and the people in it and flesh out the NPCs you saved. They are grateful and will help you out. PS Well, yes. I thought I had telegraphed that pretty well when I described a half-dozen dead elite knights of Pelor lying at his feet. But maybe I hadn't. As I said above, my posts have been a bit half-assed. Anyways, it's not that he was impossible to kill - he is pretty wounded - but he is still very dangerous, especially to a first level PC. PPS: Instead of writing all this stuff, I should have just written the next IC post, lol!
