Smells like an ass pull, though I do remember there was a splat-feat or something that lets one re-save one round after being effected by something in 3era.

Heimdall could just have his priest leave the room, since we've already established that no priest = no vote, or Roy wouldn't be fighting in the first place.

Assuming, that is, that Heimdall changed his mind, which isn't established.

The whole "millions of dwarf souls = unlimited POWER" thing is kind of cliched and stupid though. And mathematically illiterate. If Odin has thousands of years of dead humans, one generation of dwarves isn't going to tip any balances. I would expect Heimdall to shrug and proceed with world destruction as the prudent course.

How many of these norse gods are worshipped by humanity in this world, though? So far the only strong followers seem to come from the dwarven nations.

Even if you assume so, you'd still have to further assume that most dwarves who have ever been alive are still currently alive--so either the dwarf population has to be expanding exponentially, or the age of the planet has to be roughly on the same order as a dwarven lifespan. (E.g. 200-year-old dwarves means the planet has to be no more than about 400 years old for Hel's plan to work.)

Well, this is from the 3rd edition Dominate Person spell: "Subjects resist this control, and any subject forced to take actions against its nature receives a new saving throw with a +2 bonus. Obviously self-destructive orders are not carried out."

And Pathfinder has the same limitation.

So whether he passes right away and there's just a delay for dramatic effect or he fails, but then the command from Durkan causes him to roll another save with a +2 bonus, it looks legit to me. After all, he's trying to make the Fighter not fight. That has to be against his nature, right? :)
